Individual Therapy

I recognize that everyone’s therapeutic journey looks different, which is reflected in my client-centred and trauma-informed approach.  I aim to create a safe, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment to allow individuals to explore their goals, values, and strengths, and identify barriers that are causing distress in life.  I work with teens (14+) and adults.

Focus Areas

-ADHD

-Mood disorders (anxiety, depression)

-Eating Disorders

-Grief

-LIFE in general

-Managing Stress

-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

-Relationship Issues (friends, family, romantic)

-Self-esteem

-Trauma and PTSD

Trauma-Informed

Trauma-informed (in a nutshell) means viewing your problems through the lens of "What has happened to you in your life experiences?" versus "What is wrong with you?"  Unfortunately, not every family member, friend, teacher, healthcare professional, institution, etc., is trauma-informed.  Not being trauma-informed can intensify feelings of self-blame, guilt, and shame for those who disclose to others the difficult life experiences that they have endured.  One over-arching goal of therapy is to reduce a person's emotional suffering, not add to it.

Therapeutic Approaches

-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

-Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

-Internal Family Systems (IFS)

-Mindfulness

-Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

-Trauma-Focused Therapy

Phone or Virtual Sessions

I offer therapy from the comfort of a safe space chosen by you.  For virtual sessions I use a service called Jane, which is a secure (encrypted) video conferencing system that aligns with the criteria laid out in privacy guidelines from PHIPAA and PIPEDA.

The choice is yours in terms of which method of contact you prefer!

Free Consultation

I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to discuss what you are hoping to get out of therapy, and to determine if my therapeutic approach is a good fit for your needs.

** Please note, I do not  provide crisis services. If you, or someone you love, is in crisis, please contact COAST Niagara at 1-866-550-5205 or go to the nearest emergency room.**
